Talk With a Mental Health Professional

Jolene Arasz, Psy.D., Inc.

Clinical Psychologist
Lead Certified Trauma Specialist
Author
Public Speaker

Dr. Jolene Arasz is a practicing psychologist in New Jersey. Her clinical focus is on anxiety and trauma. Dr. Arasz has a private practice working with adolescents, adults, and families. She focuses on anxiety management and trauma treatment by providing a psychoneurological, educational approach to her work.

Outside of her practice, Dr. Arasz consults with schools, providing professional development training to teachers and school personnel to change the culture of mental health. Dr. Arasz also teaches students in K-12 grades and speaks at colleges about anxiety and mental health, specifically with a neurobiological focus on anxiety and mental health. This approach is significantly different from other mental health education programs in schools, providing a preventative approach that allows students to develop adaptive ways of managing anxiety and, therefore, preventing them from becoming traumatized by any potential traumatic experiences. In other words, students are taught to build resiliency before enduring overwhelming psychological stress. Furthermore, Dr. Arasz is a public speaker for various institutions focusing on Control Theory, anxiety, and trauma. Dr. Arasz hopes to expand her work into training law enforcement officers in an effort to help them better understand how to process traumatic and stressful events themselves, as well as understand how to respond to/engage with citizens from a neurological perspective with a more comprehensive understanding of trauma on the brain.

What I Do

Mental Health management and Consulting

My work is focused on helping others increase their understanding of mental health. In particular, I focus on anxiety and it’s impact on overall mental health and daily functioning. Much of my work is cognitive-based, however I also provide my clients (which includes individuals, K-12 schools, colleges, and now law enforcement officers) mental health education on the neurobiology of the brain when experiencing anxiety and trauma. With this education, I apply my own Control Theory, that focuses on anxiety and trauma stemming from a lack of personal control. I incorporate cognitive, physical and neurological exercises to help clients re-regulate specific structures of the brain after having experienced prolonged anxiety or trauma, which also serve as protective measures to help strengthen these structures of the brain to build resilience before experiencing trauma, aiding in the brain to recover more quickly and effectively from potential anxiety or trauma.
